Julia Reading is a Chiropodist/Podiatrist working within The Southdown Clinic Ltd.
Julia Reading qualified with a BSc (Hons) Podiatry degree from Southampton University in 1998. She is a member of the Society of Chiropodists and Podiatrists and is HPC registered.
After qualifying from University Julia worked for West Berkshire NHS for approximately two years and then opened her own practice in Goring and Tilehurst. Julia was born in Reading and began her career as a secretary. After obtaining the relevant ‘O' levels and ‘A' levels at evening classes she undertook a degree in podiatry as she had a keen interest in science especially Human Biology.
Julia is secretary for the local Berkshire Group of Podiatrists where she is involved in organising guest speakers for post graduate courses and indeed is presently organising a post graduate course on Local Anaesthesia. As part of her continuing professional development Julia attends several courses each year. This year she will be attending a Diabetic Foot Seminar and a Lower Limb seminar.
Julia has now gained several years of experience and considers herself to be a generalist podiatrist and as such deals with normal everyday foot problems such as corns, callous, verrucaes, ingrowing toenails and where necessary provides simple insoles.
Julia has been studying at Thames Valley University this year and has just passed her VTCT diploma in reflexology. Reflexology is a natural, holistic therapy based on the principle that there are points on the feet and hands which correspond to organs, systems and structures within the entire body. By using special pressure techniques to stimulate the points on the feet and hands, imbalances in the organs, tissues and systems of the body can be found and treated to restore harmony, balance and well-being.
